Rock Climbing:

This trip is a technical introduction to rock climbing skills.    If you are interested in rock climbing, this trip is a first step towards having fun and staying safe. You will learn the basics of climbing movement, belaying and rappelling.  After this trip you will be more prepared to climb with experienced friends or try a summit attempt with an Apex Ex guide.

We will teach you the basics of rock climbing on this trip.  This day is geared to get you hooked on the sport.  We understand that different people have different goals.  Some folks like to learn every details: rappelling, knots, belay technique, anchor systems.  Others are more interested in the experience and are ready to try something new.  Our guides will keep you safe, both physically and emotionally while you learn the ropes.  If you are considering this trip, you might also be interested in our Reach The Summit and Summit Series trips.   Give us a call to learn more at (303) 731-6160.

This trip is great for all levels and designed for people who have a desire to climb and learn technical skills.

Healthy participants will have fun on this trip.

Wear layers so that you can shed them if you are hot and bundle up if you are cold.  Bringing rain gear, a medium sized backpack, and any required medications is necessary.  Light hiking shoes are great for the climbing day but tennis shoes will suffice.  Climbing shoes are a must.  If you don’t have any we rent them for $5.

Gratuity: The outdoor industry depends on gratuity to ensure quality in the field.  Your guide goes to incredible lengths to keep you safe .   A tip of  ten to twenty dollars per person per day is recommended for excellent service.

Cancellation Policy: There is a 50% refund available for trips canceled more than 2 weeks in advanced. All trips are non-refundable within 2 weeks of the trip date.  In the case of inclement weather prior to the trip start you will be credited the amount paid for future use with Apex Ex valid for up to 1 year from the scheduled trip date.

Responsibility: In the case that a member of the party becomes sick or injured it is the responsibility of the group to abandon the summit attempt and assist in rescue.  Additionally, if for any reason the guide determines the group is in unreasonable danger, it is the responsibility of the climbing members to stay with the guide.  These situations are part of mountaineering and are non-refundable.

Peak Summit:
Longs Peak Sunrise Sidephoto

There are multiple summit possibilities in the Front Range near Denver.  Among the most popular are Green Mountain and Bear Peak.  These two mountains are a great way to spend the time gaining approximately 2,000 vertical feet in 4 to 5 miles.

Mount Sanitas and Flagstaff Mountain are about half the height of Green Mountain and Bear Peak and another great way to enjoy a Front Range Summit.  We have all day so can rest, eat and generally take in the amazing landscapes along the journey.  This is the full day trip that allows great views of the city to the East and the Rocky Mountains to the West.

These trips are a great introduction to the multi day backpacking and Longs Peak trips. Give us a call at (303) 731-6160 to learn more.

This trip is great for hikers that would like to challenge themselves with a summit attempt but are either acclimating or training for bigger summits deeper in the Rocky Mountain Range.

Healthy participants with moderate endurance will have fun on this trip.

Wear layers so that you can shed them if you are hot and bundle up if you are cold.  Bringing rain gear, a medium sized backpack, and any required medications is necessary.  Light hiking shoes are great for the day but tennis shoes will suffice.  Bring lots of water and if it hot out bring even more.  Also bring a lunch and snacks.

Mountain Biking:

This trip is for people who want to mountain bike in the Colorado Front Range but aren’t sure where to start.  You might be thinking “There are tons of trails out there and what if I get a flat and how do I adjust my bike for a good fit?”

This course covers everything you need to know to get outside this summer and have fun on your bike.  We will learn while we are out biking the trails.  At the beginning of the ride we learn to adjust the bike for fit and talk about basic riding skills.  After a short section of trail it is time for a break.  This isn’t an endurance contest. The guide will teach everyone how to fix a flat tire on the trail, in the real life environment.  After you have a good understanding of the skill it is time to ride on.  You will learn tricks to gain power on the uphill and maintain control on the down hill sections.  After a fun ride we are back to the trail head.  Your guide will provide you with an area map and let you know about the best trails in the area for your level.  If you don’t have a bike, no problem.  The guide will bring a rental for you.  Our Mountain bikes are top notch for this terrain.

It does’t matter if it is your first time on single track or you have been out on the trails a few times before.  We know the trails and will take you where you will be happy and safe.

Mountain biking is a cardiovascular activity.  Some trails in the Front Range are moderately flat but most are hilly.  This trip is designed around having fun and learning the basics.  It is not a race and is designed for beginner and intermediate riders.

Wear layers so that you can shed them if you are hot and bundle up if you are cold.  Bringing rain gear, a small backpack, and any required medications is highly encouraged.  If you have clip-in shoes feel free to bring them but also bring your pedals because some pedal/shoe combos are not compatible.  If you do not have bike shoes regular tennis shoes work just fine.

Gratuity: The outdoor industry depends on gratuity to ensure quality in the field.  Your guide goes to incredible lengths to keep you safe on Longs Peak.   A tip of ten to twenty dollars per person per day is recommended for excellent service.
