We involve the whole educational community

Often in education, different people have different goals.  The student’s perspective is very different from their parents’.  The administrator’s responsibilities are also different than those of the teacher’s.  But there are more commonalities than differences.  We all want healthy, happy and successful students.  Apex Experiential addresses many of the critical components from the perspective of each interested party below.

  • Students
  • Parents
  • Teachers
  • Administrators

Build your trip, tell your friends, and go on an adventure.  Our job is to help you lead, not ask you to follow.   With Apex Experiential you can take control.  We are there to support you and teach you the skills to rock climb the tallest walls, ski the freshest powder, summit the most impressive mountains, and experience the world on your own terms.

Apex Experiential is focused on outdoor education for high school students in the Denver Metro Area.   We use our adventure travel company as a platform to provide affordable programs for local students. The goal of Apex Experiential is to equip local youth with the knowledge, skills, judgment and passion to explore the outdoors and connect with the physical world.

While most non-profits offer programs at the $200/person/day price point, we strive to offer overnight programs closer to the $100 mark with single-day programs for less. We achieve these prices by operating efficiently. We don’t have the massive overhead of an international organization. We are local, we are here in the Denver Metro Area.

Benefits of Apex Experiential over other programs:

  • We teach students in their own backyard. This means that after the program concludes, students know where they can go to get outside. They know trails they can get to, not of distant lands that will become only a memory in the years to come.
  • We operate in smaller groups. The typical outdoor program is based around the 15 passenger van; 2 educators and 13 students. We operate many of our trips with the target of 1 educator to 6 students. Smaller group sizes greatly changes the dynamic of the trip to be more personal and build stronger relationships.
  • Ongoing Education. These programs are designed to allow student to pick and choose programs for a day, weekend or week. The programs are also designed to build upon each other as a progression towards activity independence, meaning that in time the student will be skilled enough to safely explore the Mountains.
  • Social Development. Mountain exploration is a team sport. The experiential model is based on grouping students as teams that will progress together. Protecting one another on the mountain and accomplishing extraordinary goals is a great way to build life-long friendships.

With the demands of a globalizing world and a diminishing economy Math and Science have replaced Physical Fitness and Environmental Education.  The trend will only continue as developed nations continue to grow and their citizen compete for high value jobs.  Colorado funding is increasing every year less than the rate of inflation; so effectively each year our education budget diminishes.   Young adult depression and obesity is on the rise and there is no public solution.

We are here to help solve this seemingly impossible problem.  After years of research on the topic we have developed a club based program that develops activity independence.  It is our philosophy that if a young adult is connected to the natural world through outdoor activities a life time of health and environmental advocacy will follow.

We hire teachers to organize clubs and/or accompany their students on trips with our technically trained staff.  We work with the teacher and students to build the right trip for your students.  Trips are generally affordable and designed as a progression to provide students with:

  • Passion for the outdoors
  • Technical Skills
  • Community
  • Geographic Familiarity

Many teachers have seen outdoor programs cut from their schools and others have not been able to establish them because of liability, gear or staffing requirements or enough time.  We have answered all of these questions.  With 1 million dollar liability insurance, a stock pile of equipment, Highly Trained Staff and programs designed for Denver Metro Schools we are there for you.  We are there to make a difference.  Give us a call at 303-731-6160 to learn more.

Thank you for taking the time to consider Apex Experiential to be part of your students’ high school experience.  We have three goals for Apex Experiential:

  1. Connect young adults to nature
  2. Promote healthy life styles
  3. Support local schools

We have spent the last year working to understand the needs of local high schools, parents, educators and above all students.  Our primary research in conjunction with the University of Colorado consisted of over 100 local teacher and 400 local student surveys, and more than twenty qualitative interviews with teachers, administrators and students.  We also used secondary research as cited within the report itself.

From our research we have developed an after school program that is specific to the needs of our local community at an affordable price for parents.  While the most generous companies today have pledged 1% for the planet, we have built a program that can provide over 10% of all revenue to local educators.

Apex Experiential holds $1 million liability insurance and will name your school as an additionally insured. We also abide by risk management plans in accordance to the Association to Experiential Educations.  Our lead guides are Wilderness First Responders, which is an industry certification that requires a 10 day medical rescue course with on going training requirements and testing.

Local public, private and charter schools alike have seen the benefits of working with Apex Ex.  Give us a call or read our research report to learn more.

Apex Experiential provides students with what we call “activity independence.”  After attending a high school program with Apex Experiential affiliation, students will have had the opportunity to know the abundant natural resources the Colorado Front Range, and to develop the skills, community and confidence to pursue the outdoors for life.
