Who We Are
Apex Ex has been guiding adventure trips since 2007. Locally owned and operated by our small team our goal is to share our love and passion of the outdoors with the growing outdoor community in the Front Range of Colorado. By providing our clients with a genuine experience we hope to instill a life long love and connection for the outdoors.
I’ve had a love for the outdoors since my dad took me on my first trip down the Grand Canyon at age six, and since I’ve moved from Arizona to Colorado, you can usually find me climbing somewhere in the desert or exploring the alpine of the Rockies. Through many days spent out on long adventures, I’ve also come to realize how important food is (and how much I love pizza after a long hike), so I created food blog, Gritty Gourmet, for outdoors-people. I’m also a certified Wilderness First Responder and above all, I’m passionate about getting people outside and watching how adventure activities build confidence and create connection.
Owner and Lead Guide
Originally from the Midwest, I am proud to call Colorado home for the last six years. When it's warm I rock climb, run, and hike, and when it is cold I snowshoe, ice climb, and ski. Guiding is about sharing time with people in amazing places. Each day spent outside is another opportunity to learn about the unique human and natural history of a place and our connection to it. You'll often find me romping around in the Boulder Creek Watershed on days off.
Owner and Lead Guide
A native of South Carolina I moved to Colorado to pursue a life and career in the mountains. During the summer you'll find me out hiking and climbing around Staunton State Park or Rocky Mountain National Park. Throughout the Winter months I'll be camping out at my favorite backcountry trailhead or resort to catch those fresh turns. My passion is people, my goal is to build a community based around a love for the outdoors.
I hail from the East Coast, where I cut my teeth climbing on an old stone railway bridge known as the Manchester Wall, located in the heart of Richmond, VA. I immediately fell in love with the mechanics of climbing as well as the community. From there my mentors took me to proper cliffs, spending weekends at places like the New River Gorge and Seneca Rocks. That love quickly turned to passion and I have been able to travel all around the US pursuing vertical adventures. I now reside in Golden, CO and hope to spend my time climbing in RMNP, South Platte and Shelf. As a guide, I would like to help you become a safe self-efficient climber. I have my AMGA SPI Certification as well as a WFR Certification.
Like many of my coworkers, I fell in love with the Rocky Mountains after working seasonally in other areas all over the world. I grew up in Indiana and have been working as an environmental educator since 2013 and as a guide since 2015. My passion for being a part of this special place really comes out when guiding hikes through the different ecosystems and single pitch climbs.
